When you reach a birthday it is common to look back at the time passed and think about what you’ve learned

Everyone who has ever started a company knows that the beginning can be hard, very hard even! Every win takes you to the top of the hill and every failure makes you doubt every decision you ever made…

In the first year of XPATH we definitely had our fair share of both. We made fantastic placements where others had been struggling for months, but also found ourselves played around by so called reputable companies who somehow seemed to believe that a startup doesn’t deserve the respect or professionalism they would show an established company. Little did they consider that only if you are really good at what you do, would you have the guts to venture out on your own!

One of the beautiful things of running your own company is that nobody dictates how you should work or do business. You don’t need to follow what everyone else is doing or how they are doing it, even if it’s the industry standard. You can work according to values that you see fit, ones that you believe will win in the long run. At XPATH our core values are passion, personal and partnership and we apply them in everything we do, no matter if you are a client or candidate. So when it got tough we kept our faith in our principles and in our vision to be the recruiter of choice for international roles in the beverage industry. We poured our hard work and love for what we do into supporting those with similar beliefs, who share our perception that every encounter is an opportunity.

Today we are in a great place, where we are able to work with trusted partners both in recruitment as well as in coaching and HR consulting. People who know we deliver on what we promise and stand by our word. Serving an exciting industry and people who share the same international mindset and who see the world as one prospect.

This is the era of those with a global vision, the intra- and entrepreneurs, the risk takers, the ones guided by passion for creating new solutions to existing problems.  As XPATH we are proud to be a part of that family and to keep on supporting you all in your success.

Now, no birthday is complete without a gift is it? So for that purpose I share with you a quote from “Instructions” by one of my favourite authors, Neil Gaiman. It has kept me standing tall more than once. Enjoy!

“Remember your name.

Do not lose hope — what you seek will be found.

Trust ghosts. Trust those that you have helped to help you in their turn.

Trust dreams.

Trust your heart, and trust your story.”
